...Do you know if your traffic is really sticking around, though? I *try* to set an example by commenting in blogs as I surf, but I think most people are just trying to click that number as soon as the counter is done, and don't really look at the sites they're surfing :/

Hell, I don't know HTML either, I just fake it and sometimes figure something out. And have learned to keep a copy of my template somewhere in case I fuck up something real bad! I do have a friend that offers some free templates. But I like my main blog the way it is. I use her templates on my other blogs.
